Aussie Tourin' - East Coast, Tassie and mooooore!

G'day!

It's time to hit the road again....back in Australia!

I'll be kicking around these parts for a total of 6 months - until i return to home to Canada in April. 

I've just wrapped up East Coast and Tasmania tours, and am home for a holiday rest in Melbourne...then off again - up the East Coast, over to Western Australia, and mooore!

I've squeezed into the van with good friends and AMAZING performers, The Rosie Bugess Band, from Melbourne up the coast to Brisbane and back, from November 23rd to Dec 5th. With only 2 days rest upon my return to Melbourne - I hopped onto the Spirit of Tasmania, over to the island for another short run with fabulous ladies you all know and love, Jungal!! We had a SUCH a great time! 

I will be hitting the Hot Pants Festival over New Year's, and the East Coast again, with Jungal in January, as well. So if you missed me up the coast in Nov/Dec - I'll be seeing you soon! There is new territory to explore this time around, too - WA! I have heard such great things about the West Coast, so am super excited to check it out for Nannup Music Festival at the end of Feb ;)

It has been sooo wonderful to see so many familiar faces, already - i am looking forward to seeing the rest of you! My goodness, i do love this fine land.

Australian Tour Dates, New Video, New Album and Canadian Summer Tour Re-cap!

hellooooo!

with just a short family-tme break under my belt, i'm off again! back to australia this time...today! my flight leaves in a few hours out of toronto....eee!

this past summer of touring was an absolute blast. it kicked off on may 28th westward, fromtoronto to victoria, down to california and back eastward, until we returned home to toronto on september 25th. i know. that is a loooong time. so many shows, festivals, and fun in those 4 months - what a summer! 

my time "home" consisted of only a few days in toronto before heading north to sudbury withJosh Turnbull and his studio, to record my new album! we hit my family's cabin on the lake, where i've spent the majority of my summers growing up, for 7 days of musical lock-down. the stars aligned for some very special guests to drop-in - the songs are sounding VERY exciting!!! i don't want to give too much away....just yet...so will keep you at the edge of your seat. but a little teaser: YOU will certainly be the first to know! so keep in touch - (i'm planning a pre-release cyber-party and want you to come ;))

following the cabin sessions, i spent some much needed time with my family (and new nephew!), and enjoyed the changing of the seasons, and just enough cool breezin' to send me on my way. 

oh - and i also filmed a music video for "The Ways I Love You" with north bay's Patrick Gilbert!! the video is up as of today! see the link below.

and now back to aus - for six months of touring touring touring (and more sunshine!). i'll be hitting the road this time, with a slew of aussie musos, including those you remember well - "Jungal" and "The Rosie Burgess Band". dates and words from the road will be updated on my website along the way - at www.fayeblais.com .

August - Festival Month Recap!

Helloooo!

Ahhh what a month!

August has been the third month of four on this huge Canadian Summer Tour....and what a month it's been.

It all kicked off with Arts Wells Festival in Wells, BC Canada - which i have been anticipating since my arrival back to the homeland for good, a few years ago. It lived up to all of the wonderful words i'd heard about it...and then some. I hit the fest with the Jungal ladies, who played as my backing band for my theatre set, the last of our stage-sharing before they flew back to Australia (except for Victoria, who is sticking around to finish up the tour with me on Bass). The show was overflowing with festival goers, nearly pitch black, with an incredible vibe - a performance i won't be forgetting anytime soon :) The same goes for pretty much every one of the performances I caught that weekend; Jesse Dee & Jacquie B, Scott Cook, Andrea Ramolo, Corin Raymond, Fish & Bird, and of course Jungal doing their thang.

The following weekend we headed to California - Oakland, for the Art & Soul Festival. We performed alongside a sweet lineup of incredible female artists' at the WomenGig Stage, including the Rosie Burgess Band (also fellow Australian friends!), Lia Rose, Sistas in the Pit, and an amazing solo performance by Vicki Martinez. Not only was the festival fantastic, but so too was the treatment we received over our 'working holiday' week in Oakland....bliss.

This past weekend named the last of our time in the Rockies this summer - Music on the Mountain, near Prince George, BC. In it's second year, the festival proved to have worked it's way into a growth spurt over the sleepy seasons - and came fully alive over the 3 days of impressive musical talent. Reunited again with good friends Jesse Dee & Jacquie B, Scott Cook, Andrea Ramolo and Sarah Burton - we joined each other on all of our sets to sing all of those choruses we know (and love!) so well....it was magical.


...and now for the homestretch!

It isn't over yet though - we still have a lot of miles on the Trans-Canada Highway to go, with loads of musical stops along thew way, including Field, Golden, Medicine Hat, Moosejaw, Regina, Winnipeg Harvest Moon Festival, Fort Francis, Thunder Bay (including Biindigaate Film Festival Gala!), Nippising and home to Toronto and Sudbury.




This summer has flown by - and been sweet with every step of the way. Though I'll be getting home just in time for Fall, I won't be staying long....as the Australian Summer rounds the bend - so too will my plane - off to Oz for another dose!

New Single/EP - "The Ways I Love You" is OUT!

it's ready. it's here. and it's alllllll yours!!!!

i'm super excited to have hard copies to dish out - just in time for the mega-long canadian summer tour!!  i literally left the big city (of Toronto) as soon as the records were ready - and hit the road north-west for Sudbury, the second date of the tour.

the single/EP is available on my website (for $7!) - www.fayeblais.com - and on itunes! it features 3 tracks:

3) "Simon" *music from the feature documentary "Return to Minomin"

there are some fabulous friends featured on this album - who were absolutely critical to this new release hitting the shelves - josh turnbull (producer, engineer, drums, vocals, bass and guitar), sj darling (vocals), shawn durek (mastering), and sivan agam ("the april maze", AUS - cello).

this little teaser also features two tracks written for the feature documentary film "Return to Minomin", another moving story - put forward by incredible aboriginal filmmaker michelle derosier. it was an absolute pleasure work (and connect) with michelle and the crew on this project.

amazingly, CBC has already picked the song up - on the first day of it's release in northern ontario - so spread the work and request away!

New Look, New Tour, New Music!!!

hellooooo!

the seasons are swapping and change is in the air....and luckily it's getting warmer this time of year, here in canada. i'm feeling like somewhat of a season bandit with all of this hot-weather-hopping, so figured i'd go with 'chasing the sun' tour titling this summer. seemed fitting!

the tour will kick off tomorrow (saturday!) at The Cameron House, in Toronto, then take me to my lovely lil hometown of Sudbury, to the Fromagerie on Thursday, June 2nd (limited tix - avail at the venue now!)....and onward westward...for four months of touring, to the coast - with a little skip over to California -- and back. *breath.

i cannot wait to hit the road again, here at home - and am even more excited to share another two months of summer touring with the fabulous female trio you all know and love - 'Jungal' (see www.youtube.com/fayeblais for our infamous videoblogs from last summer's canadian tour!) - who are returning to double-bill July and August with me, and play as my backing band. for the lengthy bookend journeys (June & September), i'll be performing as a duo, with 'Jungal's wonderful bass player Victoria Beard! yipee!!

i will be touring as a duo (with Jungal's bassist - Victoria Beard) on the east and westward long stints, and with a full band - Jungal (Australia) - who will also be double-billing shows over July and August in Alberta and B.C.!

it all kicks off in TORONTO at The Cameron House, Saturday May 28th, 10pm, $10 at the door. this will also be the 'Ball of Light' video launch party. this will be a special arrangement with full band, including Josh Turnbull on the drums, Victoria Beard (Jungal) on bass and Andrea Ramolo on backup vocals!!

next will be the hometown show in SUDBURY! it's been ages since i've played the ole stompin' ground - so this will be a special, intimate show, with limited seating - at the Fromagerie on Elgin. show is Thursday, June 2nd, 8pm, $15 tix available now at Fromagerie and at the door on the night, if there are seats left.
